Tulip - Holland’s Gift to Us

At Home

A bunch of tulips in a crystal vase gives every room a breath of spring.
A couple of tulips in a bud vase near a window will become an ever-changing arrangement with the sunlight.
Tulips are packaged in bunches of ten stems. Two bunches of 10 makes an "easy" vase drop in.
For an exciting look – combine types of tulips in the same design. Example: striped parrot tulips, double tulips and single tulips make a visually interesting design.
When tulips are "warm" (at room temperature for several hours) their individual petals can be "Reflexed" to form an open flower, which looks very different from closed blossoms. Reflexed blossoms often
look good floating in crystal bowls down the center of the table.
"French" tulips are characterized by elegant long stems, long egg-shaped heads, and a long vase life.
Fall is the best time to plant tulips in your garden. Buy color coordinated groupings of bulbs and mass them in areas of your garden.
A vase of tulips is a great way to express your love – especially for Valentine sweethearts.

Flower Care

The end-user life span of the blooms is 3-7 days, depending on cultivars.
Buy when heads are still tight and showing nearly full color.
Look for straight stems and clean, bright green foliage.
Replace water in vase every 3-4 days to avoid stem clogging.
Remember tulips are one flower that continues "to grow" in length after they are cut. In fact, they can grow several inches in their vase life. Keep trimming an inch or so from the bottom of each stem about every other day to maintain the designs beauty.
