Sunflower - The Icon of Summer
At
Home
-
- Place some sunflowers and other mixed wildflowers in a
galvanized watering can to add a garden-style look to any room.
- An array of wild grasses and pods with a few sunflowers
added creates a very masculine arrangement that any man would enjoy
receiving.
- Float a single sunflower head in a crock bowl and add to a
coffee table for a country look.
- They can be planted as a border in your flowerbed for a
wildflower look and, come winter, will provide food for your feathered
friends.
- For a more interesting vase of sunflowers on your table,
pluck a few petals from a flower and scatter them on the table.
- From summer to fall – sunflowers "carry" the
design. They are available in miniature and super large sizes.
- When using larger sunflowers – make sure your vessel is
of ample physical weight to balance the flower heads. Heavy blown-glass,
pottery stoneware or deep tin buckets (with plastic liners).
- Accessories to complement sunflowers in a vase – raffia,
natural grains and branches.
-
- Flower Care
-
- The end-user life span of the blooms is 7-10 days,
depending on the cultivars.
- Replace water in vase every 3-4 days to avoid stem
clogging.
- Remove foliage below waterline – and any foliage damaged
in shipping.
