Calla - Sleek Flowers with Style

At Home

Use tall geometric containers to complement the long stems of the flowers. Ideal containers are hand-blown glass, pottery and silver containers.
Depending on the season of the year, callas are also available as potted plants. Add a decorative pot cover and enjoy the plant as a live accent to your home.
Less is more dramatic when it comes to callas. Just two or three stems, artfully arranged in a vase, make an impressive statement.
Miniature callas are great to mix with other bulb flowers in a short vase for a sophisticated table centerpiece.
Create a fun architectural look when arranging callas by bundling the flower stems together and gently tying them with raffia or cording at two to three places along the stems lengths. The result is a column-look with flowers all clustered at the top of the design.
When adding foliage to an arrangement of all callas - think of foliage types with sleek lines such as bear grass, flax, lycopodium, ti leaves and palm fronds. These foliages will support the drama of the flowers without detracting from their unique form.

Flower care

The end-user life span of the blooms is 3-5 days, depending on cultivars.
The stems of callas are very "fleshy" and their cell structure holds a lot of water.
Do not crush stems or damage the stems by bending them, as it will impede the stem’s ability to uptake water and reduce vase life.
Check water level daily and add warm water as needed. Be sure you use a preservative to keep the water clear.
The blossoms (spathes) are fragile and should be handled carefully to avoid brusing. When transporting them, wrap each blossom for added protection.
Replace water in vase every 2-3 days to avoid stem clogging.
